Botox, Dysport, Xeomin (Neurotoxins)
With age and repeated muscle contraction, fine lines can form on the upper face and around the lips. Additionally, certain muscles become too strong, which can lead to a wider appearance of the lower face, bands on the neck, and even a downturned mouth.
With neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin), Dr. Isabela Jones can soften these muscles to provide patients with a natural, smoother, younger-looking appearance. Dr. Isabela Jones trained with world experts in cosmetic dermatology and has years of experience injecting botulinum toxin, allowing her to use the most advanced techniques. Dr. Jones also performs “baby botox” for younger patients who are looking to prevent lines from forming (pre-juvenation).
What are Neurotoxins?
Botulinum toxin works at the connection between nerve endings and muscles. By injecting botulinum toxin directly into a muscle, the muscle relaxes and contracts less strongly. In turn, lines and wrinkles on the skin overlying the muscle become smoother.
How long does Botox last?
Once injected, patients start to see a decrease in muscle contraction within 3-5 days, but it takes a full 2 weeks for the neurotoxin to “set in”. After that, its effect slowly wears off over 3-4 months. Most patients come 3-4 times a year for treatments.
What to expect after Neurotoxin injection?
After treatment, patients can return right back to work, with the exception of exercising and laying flat, which should be avoided for 6 hours. There can be slight redness at the injection site, which resolves within minutes. Rarely, mild bruising can occur.
